ShoulderTrac™

Noninvasive Traction Components for
Orthopedic and Emergency Medicine Use

· ShoulderTrac Instructions

PATIENT TRACTION BELT
The traction belt is a soft foam belt which is placed around the patient's chest under the affected axilla. A D-ring connection attaches this belt to the belt worn by the assistant.

PATIENT ARM COMPONENT
The arm component is a soft foam component which is attached to the affected arm. This component is secured to the patient's upper and lower arm by two "hook and loop" straps. The Patient Arm Component is attached to the physician belt by two D-rings.
PHYSICIAN AND ASSISTANT BELTS
The physician and the assistant should each place a belt around his/her waist, adjust for comfort, attach to the Patient Arm Component and Patient Traction Belt respectively, and apply an appropriate traction technique.

Advantages drawn from multi-center clinical trails:
· More than 88% of reductions took less than ten minutes.
· 100% of the medical personnel using the device said that they would use it again.
· Compared to previous shoulder reduction techniques, the ShoulderTrac was easier to use.

Benefits:
· Helps to develop smooth, in-line humeral traction which is better for the patient than the "bed sheet" method.
· Shoulders may be reduced using less anesthesia compared to previous methods.
· More aesthetically pleasing than current methods used. · Makes a universally difficult procedure simpler for the physician and patient.
